Sundara Inn and Spa

DSC_0892

Hi, y’all- I’m back!!!  After a few months off due to a new (and stressful) job I am very excited to start sharing again!  And what better way to come back after some stress than by talking about a mini vacation as a way to relax .

Peter and I stayed at Sundara Inn and Spa to help ourselves rewind after the holidays and it was amazing!  Sundara is an adult only, electronics-free zone that is focused on pampering their guests and giving them a relaxing experience.

Sundara is tucked away in a pine forest just outside the Wisconsin Dells.  The beauty of the property was accentuated by the dusting of freshly fallen snow that covered the grounds and trees.  Because Sundara is an electronics-free destination (besides your room) I was unable to take pictures of the grounds but they are an idyllic, natural venue.

Peter and I decided to stay in the Villa Suite for extra privacy and more room- the highest temperature was 4 degrees when we stayed there so we knew we were going to be spending A LOT of time in the room.  The 900 square foot room included: a full kitchen, a king bed with down mattress topper, comfortor and pillows (this was seriously the best bed I have ever slept in and I now NEED a down mattress pad for my own bed!), an oversized shower with a Kohler five head shower system (also the best shower I have ever taken- I immediately texted my sister about how great it was), a very large whirlpool bath and spectacular views of the forest.

The guest service at Sundara was also exceptional.  We never had to open a door to enter or leave the reception area, and the chauffeur was always very nice and made sure I never had to open my car door. The complimentary turn down service with seasonal caramels was a nice touch, and room service was always prompt and professional.

We filled some of our time by visiting local places such as Monk’s Bar and Grill (a cool little restaurant with classic American food we always like to stop at), Outlets at The Dells (this is an outdoor mall and I’m so glad we stopped here despite the freezing cold because we found AMAZING after-Christmas deals), Cave of the Mounds (a place I had always seen and heard about but have never actually went to- the cave is 50 degrees all year which felt extra warm when it was -5 degrees outside!) and Baraboo Candy (a staple for us when we are in the area- we can’t leave the store without buying $60 worth of candy).

Sundara offers a lovely complimentary breakfast with your stay.  They had many choices to pick from such as a wide variety of fruit, yogurts and hot dishes.  Sundara also offers lunch (which we did not have) and dinner.  Dinner was delicious- we shared the pan seared scallops. I have never had scallops before and HAD to try them because Gordon Ramsey always yells about them in Hells Kitchen- can you tell that I’m obsessed much? I ordered the grilled steak salad for myself, which was made with locally-sourced ingredients, and Peter ordered the spring lamb ragu, which also had locally-sourced ingredients.  I finished the meal by ordering the chocolate mousse for dessert because it was highly recommended to me by a coworker and that did not disappoint.  I had planned on eating only half of it after dinner because I was so full but I couldn’t stop myself from eating the whole thing!

I am so glad we decided to take this mini vacation.  Peter and I hadn’t gone on a vacation for two years and definitely needed one!  If y’all are looking for a place to just relax I would highly recommend Sundara.  Have you ever been or do y’all have a special relaxation destination?  I would love to hear about your experiences!

P.S.  My swimsuit is from Aerie- you can find the top here and the bottom here.  I was worried about the ruffle back being too close to the high bikini bottom because of my short frame but the suit together was really cute and super comfortable.  My leggings are from Hollister and can be found here.  These leggings are the best!  This is the second pair I have bought for myself- they are very comfortable and are great for cold weather.  I even bought a pair for my sister and she loves them!  Hollister is a great place to shop for loungewear for petite ladies (and everyone else for that matter- their stuff is so soft).  Some of their styles goes down to size XXS!  I can easily find pieces that are cute to wear around the house and are not too big.  My sweatshirt is also from Hollister but is sold out.  You can find a similar style one here– plus it’s on sale!
