Hi, y’all! I hope everyone had a great first week to the new year! I want to continue talking about New Year’s resolutions- particularly about some ways to stay fit and healthy all year. I am an active runner all year- rain, shine, snow or cold- but some days I prefer to supplement my running with something else. I find it very important to change up my workout every few days so my body doesn’t get into a workout rut.

Yoga is one of my favorite supplements for running- it is low impact and gives my body an amazing stretch. Yoga for Fitness with Gwen Lawrence is my favorite go-to video for my yoga routine- I bought it years ago and have been using it ever since. I love that there are three different routines in the video so I don’t have to do the same one over and over again. Each routine is about 20 minutes and focuses on a different area of the body to work- arm, legs and abs. All are challenging but not impossible. My personal favorite is the legs routine. You also have the option to play all three routines as one video for a longer workout.

I also have a favorite ab workout and arm workout I do a couple days a week on top of my running and yoga. For example, Wednesday mornings I like to do this ab workout by Blogilates and at night do a yoga routine. Or Saturday mornings I like to run, do my ab workout and then do this arm workout from popsugar.com. The ab workout is always a challenge- I have been doing it for a couple of years and I STILL find it difficult to get through the whole thing without taking a break- but it is amazing! The arm workout is great because it is very effective but not very difficult- plus the ladies hosting make the routine so much fun! You can also find these two workouts on my Pinterest board, Healthy Topics, here.

Cute workout clothes are always a perk I like to focus on when I exercise- who doesn’t want to look good when they are trying to stay in shape! My shirt is from Fabletics- you can find a similar one here. I bought this shirt a couple of years ago and ALWAYS wear it- it is flattering, comfortable and good quality. I have washed it countless times and it is holding up amazingly well. Overall, it is a must-have basic.
My leggings are from Hollister’s Cali Sport collection- you can find a similar stirrup pair here and a similar heather grey style here. I think the stirrup on the legging is not only a cute detail but is also great for running because it guarantees nothing riding up. I am always drawn towards heather grey- I just couldn’t resist these! I am very impressed with these leggings- they are cute, functional and I am always reaching for them to wear.

My sports bra is also from Hollister’s Cali Sport collection- you can find a similar one here. I love sports bras that have cute details like this strappy backed one! The only complaint I have about this bra is that is it hand wash only which is a strange washing instruction in my mind when it is meant to be used for active wear. I remove the pads, machine wash cold and lay flat to dry to get around hand washing it and the bra is holding up fine. Minus that one thing, I do love this bra! It is cute, comfortable and functions as it should.

I hope I have inspired y’all to try a new workout routine and stick to it! You don’t have to exercise as much as me to make a difference- even going for a nice walk or doing just one of these routines is great. Every little bit counts! What new routines have y’all tried for the new year?
P.S. My yoga mat is from Target and can be found here. I have had it for a few years and love it- I do not slip on it and it is comfortably thick.
