Recent Reads and What I Thought of Them (November 10, 2025)

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again- I LOVE to read. I could read a book all day if given the chance. Here are some books I recently read and what I thought of them!

P.S.- no spoilers!

Watching You by Lisa Jewell- I really enjoyed this book! I read it in a few days because it was very compelling. I would give this book a 5/5.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien- I recently watched these movies, which is saying a lot that I haven’t seen them because I’m a big LOTR fan! Watching the movies made me want to reread the book, which has probably been about 15 years since I last read it. I feel that I enjoyed this book more now because I’m older than I did when I was in high school. It seemed easier for me to read. I’ll give this book a 5/5!

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett- I cannot believe I have never read this book before considering it’s a classic! I absolutely loved it. I also think reading this type of literature, focused on a child’s perspective, helps me be a better mother because I’m getting a child’s viewpoint. I would give this book a 5/5!

The House on Olive Street by Robyn Carr- This book was fine and it was an easy read. I didn’t feel totally compelled to read it. Like I said, it was just “fine” for me. I would give this book a 3/5.

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery- Again, I can’t believe I have never read this book before! I totally loved it. And then I found out it’s a series! Plus, it’s another one of those books from a child’s perspective, which again, helps me be a more understanding mom. I would give this book a 5/5.

Never Say Never by Danielle Steel- I thought this book had a bizarre story line. All of the things that happened to the main character were really odd. I would give this book a 2/5.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield- I liked this book a lot and it was very compelling to read. They mentioned Jane Eyre a lot during the story and this book definitely had that same eerie vibe about it. I would give this book a 5/5.

Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery- Of course I had to read the second Anne of Green Gables book so soon after I read the first one because I loved the first one so much! It did not disappoint. I’ll give this book a 5/5.
