It’s that time of year- spring cleaning time! I love a tidy home, but even an organized person like me has problem spots in my space. For example, this upstairs walk-in closet that has become a dumping ground because it’s out of sight, out of mind. I always said I would fix it later…and 5 years later, I did!

Here’s the “before”- yikes! This was the closet where my winter coats ended up, along with all of my extra office supplies, my son’s random craft things, and a whole bunch of other stuff like wrapping paper, random artwork, and an old computer.
A few things we did a while ago was put the new floor in and a new light fixture in. The floor was gross carpet in the hall and this closet so when we redid the hall flooring it made sense to just keep going into this space. We also changed the light fixture in here because it was a pull chain so we changed it to a standard wall switch for ease of use. This was also when my husband found the bat in the attic while he was running new electric wires- that’s life in a 115 year old house! Good thing it was only one bat, and it flew away and hasn’t returned…and hopefully never will!

And here’s the “after”- so much better! I can now easily walk in here AND see the floor- amazing. This was a simple renovation that took me less than a week to put together. I used paint I already had from when we renovated our dining room, a peel and stick wallpaper from Amazon, a cube shelf I already had from Target, and a bookcase set I also picked up from Amazon.
This closet is still where my winter coats live, along with my son’s craft supplies and my sewing supplies. I call this space “the crafty closet.”
