Pom Pom T-Shirt DIY

Hey guys! So I was scrolling through a Boden catalog the other day and saw this Eloise Pom Trim Jersey Top and fell in love! And then I realized I have multiple white T-shirts in my closet and could easily replicate this myself as a fun little sewing project! So that’s just what I did and here’s an easy DIY for you guys to follow along with!

Like I said, I grabbed a white T-shirt I already owned and then went to JoAnn Fabrics to find similar trim to the Boden shirt. 1 yard was plenty to do both sleeves. I turned the shirt inside out and pinned the trim to the inside of the sleeve about 1/4″ up from the hem.

To attach the trim correctly you have to take in mind that you’re working with a knit fabric in the shirt and in the trim. With this in mind, I used a zig zag stitch on my machine to allow for the flexibility of the shirt and trim. If you use a regular stitch on knit materials, you run the risk of the stitch breaking when you are taking the shirt on and off because that type of stitch does not have any flexibility. You can also you a serge machine if you have one.

And that’s it! It took me about half an hour to put this whole thing together and I love the result! What do you think about adding pom pom trim to a T-shirt you already have- yes or no?!
