Petite Style Hacks- How to Make a Wrap Dress Fit!

Hey guys- I hope you’re having a good week so far! Today I want to share with you an easy way to make a wrap dress fit better. It’s quick, simple and will make you feel so much more confident about your look! Ready? Let’s go!

If you’re like me it’s a challenge to find clothes that fit correctly. Proportions are usually off and things tend to be way too big. One of my favorite wrap dresses had just this problem! The front crossover bodice was loose and baggy and the waist way too big (even with the tie belt). So I got out my tiny scissors, thread and marker and went to work!

Most wrap dresses, especially ones made out of woven fabrics, usually have two button closures on the waist to keep the crossover bodice in the correct place (one on the right inside the dress and one on the left). If these buttons don’t fit you exactly to your shape then the crossover bodice will not sit correctly on you. An easy and simple way to fix this problem is by moving the buttons over to fit you perfectly!

I simply put the dress on, marked where the buttons should be to fit me better, and then sewed the buttons to their new spot and now this dress looks so much better on! The crossover bodice fits snug against my chest and the waist is fitted. I look and feel more confident in this dress because I made this minor adjustment!

You can also do an even faster fix if you don’t have the time to do some hand sewing. You can safety pin the waist inside the dress to get the ideal fit as well! Definitely not a permanent adjustment but works if you need something instant.
