Hey, everyone- I’m back!!! This post is a bit longer than usual so heads up 😉 I took a little break from blogging during my career change. I’m not one who takes big life transitions easily so I decided to put the blog on hold while I got settled. But I missed you all and am happy to be back!
As I said before the break, I’m now doing interior design and I could not be happier with the new job! Don’t get me wrong, I liked my old job a lot, but the high stress levels and two hour daily commute were starting to wear me down after 6 years. While I did make good advances within the company, I decided to pursue a different career. Peter and I spent A LOT of time thinking about this, and we felt it was something that would be best for both of us. So, I took a leap of faith and ventured down a new path.

The story of me leaving the old job was so out of character for me. I’m very organized and like to know what’s happening next, so the fact that I resigned without a new job lined up was very scary for me. But Peter happened to find my new job on ZipRecruiter and I was hired within two weeks of applying! Peter and I always say that God knows what’s best and he’ll take care of us, and this was more proof that He does just that. (ZipRecruiter is amazing, by the way. They tell you how good of a match you are to a job posting, and also when the company you applied to looks at your resume. I felt very informed as to what was going on and the process was really easy!)
I now thoroughly enjoy going to work, my commute is only 30 minutes a day, and my stress levels have noticeably decreased. I went from having a headache almost every day and feeling like I could never catch my breath to overall feeling great, both physically and mentally. I was also apparently a bit snippy with people because I was so stressed out. According to my friends I seemed way happier after changing careers- sorry everyone! I didn’t even realize I had such a bad attitude before, which is so not me- I always try to be a positive and upbeat person! That’s just another reason why I made the right decision.

Not only am I happy in the new job, but I’ve also completed many house projects. I FINALLY finished painting my living room/kitchen/dining room/hallways, which took forever because of my two story ceilings and open floor plan, I started putting beams up in the living room and dining room (progress pictures to come!), and I got a bunch of smaller decorating I’ve been putting off done, such as decorating the front porch, taking down old blinds and getting a new furniture layout complete in the living room.
I’m also revamping the blog a little bit, too. I’m still all about petite style and will share recipes I love and beauty tips but I’m also fortifying my belief of living a simple and real life. I want you all to know that this is truly me and I’m not trying to sell you anything or pretend that I’m perfect. No one is perfect and that’s just fine! I’m also going to be posting less- I’m only going to do two blog posts a week instead of three and will be on Instagram less. I want to continue taking time to relax and work on my house. I do still plan to share where my outfits are from because I love helping women find the right piece of clothing or accessory that will make them feel their best. If you buy something from a link I post, that’s great! If not, that’s fine, too- I just want all of you to know that’s not why I’m here. I’m here because I love connecting with you all and being a source for you to utilize.

Well, I think that’s it for now! I want to thank everyone who continued to support my blog during my hiatus and asked me to come back! I also want to thank all my new readers for giving my blog a chance and I hope I help you along the way as well!
xoxo Caitlin
