What I Eat at Work

Hey, y’all- who’s happy that it’s Friday?!  I sure am, especially since I took the day off so Thursday was my Friday this week 🙂  Eating healthy is very important to me which is why I only pack good-for-me food for work.  If you only pack healthy food at work you can’t cheat because you have nothing else to eat!  Eating well consistently will also improve your performance because your body won’t be bogged down by any nasty food you consume.  Let’s dive deeper into what a typical food day at work looks like for me!

I eat my breakfast when I get into work (8 am) because I don’t have time at home.  This includes an apple and about a cup of vanilla yogurt with blueberries and a pinch of granola mixed in- so yummy!  Around 10 am I usually need a snack- some fruit with a handful of almonds does the trick for me this time!  I’ve been particularly enjoying the strawberry/almond combo lately.  Around 11:30 I usually eat another small snack because I eat lunch a bit later- I have been loving grapes right now!

What I Eat at Work

12:30- lunch time!  A lettuce wrap filled with a couple slices of ham or turkey and a pinch of shredded cheddar is refreshing and the protein will keep you full.  I like to pair this with some baby carrots.  Plus, look how pretty the two look together!  2 pm is my favorite part of my food day because that’s when I make a small cup of coffee (otherwise I’ll fall asleep at 7pm lol) and I eat a small piece of chocolate.  It’s my little reward for getting through most of the day!  Sometimes when 3:30 rolls around I’m getting a little hungry again and don’t want to be starving when I’m driving home at 5 so having a little more fruit (pineapple is especially good at this time) will hold me over until I get home around 6 and can start dinner.

A couple of other handy snacks I always keep at work is some organic peanut butter and a protein bar.  These are for the days I’m completely ravenous and need some extra sustenance.  I’m loving a spoonful of organic peanut butter as a quick snack lately- it’s tasty and filling.  The Santa Cruz brand (ingredients- peanuts and less than 1% of salt!) is my favorite right now- it tastes like real peanut butter instead of the regular $0.99 stuff.
