Hi, y’all! Finding work appropriate pants that fit properly is a challenge for a lot women, especially if you are petite. It sometimes seems as if clothing companies think that no petite women work offices or need a nice pair of dress pants for any reason. This is, of course, not true. I have tried on so many different work pants and returned them all because, even though they were petite sized or the smallest size the company offered and it looked like they would fit according to their size chart, they were all be so big I could take them on and off without unzipping them.
One day on this painful journey I finally found a pair of work pants that actually fit! The Bi-stretch Skinny Ankle Pants from Gap have become my go-to work wear pants- I have three different colors now! Gap offers this pant in petite, regular and tall lengths- that’s a great selection for so many different women! You can find these pants here.
The Bi-stretch pants are made out of a stretch twill which gives the pants a nice structure while still being able to hug your legs. The pants are skinny throughout and end just above the ankle- a flattering length on all women and it shows off your shoes! These pants also have welt pockets on the front and back. The closures are a hook and bar in the waist and fly front zipper.
Gap’s petite and regular pant sizes are the same for waist (if you wear a 0 in their regular size you will wear a 0 in their petite size). The difference is the petite sizes have an inseam that is 2 1/2” shorter than regular. I have purchased the regular 00 and the petite 00. The regular 00 I had hemmed to sit just above the ankle as they should be. I roll the petite 00 hem up to the inside to get this length- the petite 00 length is still a bit too long for me, sitting at the bottom of my ankle. Rolling the hem up to the inside makes the pants look like they have been hemmed without actually having to do it! The hem has never fallen down during the day, either, because of the skinny fit. The 00 in the regular and petite sizes also have no waist gap! A difficult thing to find in work pants.
