Spring Refresh

DSC_0138

Hi, y’all!  The first weekend of Spring means it is time to take down my Winter decorations and transition to Spring ones!  I love Spring decorations- they are light, airy and I love loading my home up with flowers.

I like to start decorating my fireplace mantle first and then add coordinating accents to the rest of the room.  A mantle is a good place to start because it is a large, blank canvas where you can get a good feel for how you want to decorate the rest of an area.

A lot of my decorations are things I have collected over the years- whether that be from a variation of stores or were given to me from someone.  The tall glass canister in the above picture is a somewhat recent purchase from HomeGoods; the chalkboard trend is still very popular- I’m sure you can find something similar at a store near you!

The tulips are also a recent purchase- they are from Michaels and can be found here.  These fake tulips are exceptional- they are very good quality and actually feel real!  I originally bought these as a prop for a photoshoot at work and liked them so much I decided to buy them for myself!

The picture and frame, small house and small glass canisters are decorations my grandma had forever and decided to give me.  The picture is from artist Charles Wysocki- my grandma has pictures of his work all over her house, and she and I used to do his puzzles together when I was growing up.  I also love his work and like to adorn my own house with it!  The little house is also something my grandma collects and I have started collecting, too.  These tiny houses are part of the Liberty Falls collection- the attention to detail in these houses is amazing and I have always loved looking at them.

The white frame above is a recent purchase from HomeGoods and I decided to put another Charles Wysocki picture in it- I love how the tulips in the picture coordinate perfectly with the tulip arrangement I put on the other side of the mantle.

The glass canister is another piece from my grandma- she sure had a lot of these hanging around and I absolutely love them!

The galvanized birdhouse is from Hobby Lobby. I bought this about a year ago- you can find a similar one here.  You can’t not have a birdhouse when you are decorating for Spring!  I actually am a little obsessed with birdhouses and have to stop myself from buying too many!

Here are some more decorations I put up around my house.  In the picture above I put a bush of hydrangeas from Jo-Ann’s- found here– in a vase I bought from Goodwill many years ago.  Goodwill is a great place to buy vases- there are always a ton of them and they are very inexpensive!  I added another little house to this arrangement and they both sit next to a marble lamp that was my grandma’s.

On my wine rack I placed a succulent- from T.J.Maxx– with a cool whiskey bottle my husband had and an accent lamp from Target- you can find a similar one here.

On my dining room table I placed a tea set from my grandma with some fun Kate Spade cocktail napkins that were a gift from my sister and a flower on a pretty serving tray I found at Hobby Lobby about a year ago.  You can find a similar one here.

Happy Spring, everyone!  Do y’all like to decorate as much as I do?!
