Hi, y’all! Winter sure can be daunting, especially here in Wisconsin. It’s dark, cold and everyone always seems to feel tired. This week I want to talk about a few tricks I use to wake up feeling refreshed every morning.

I have a specific bedtime routine I like to follow that really helps me feel good in the morning. Every night, when I’m about to get ready for bed, I like to only turn on my bedside table lamp, make sure I have no music or television on and slip into a cute pair of pajamas. I love to sleep in cute pajamas- it is a small thing in life that makes me feel great about myself. Who doesn’t want to look cute day and night! The pajamas I am wearing were a Christmas gift from my amazing grandma. She purchased them from Target where they are currently sold out online but I did see them on clearance at the store I shop at. Maybe you will get lucky! You can find a similarly cute pair here that is made out of the same material or you can find a similar print but short sleeve style here.

I then deal with all of my clothes for the day- whether they need to be folded, hung or thrown in the hamper. Having a tidy bedroom at night ensures that I don’t see a mess the second after I wake up.
After all of those things I go into the bathroom, wash my face and brush my teeth. I like to take my time doing these things- it helps me decompress from my day. I also find taking time on my skin routine very important to keep it healthy- I never go to bed with makeup on or my teeth unbrushed, no matter how tired I am.
Next, I like to do some simple stretches. I do about 15 different stretches for roughly 10 seconds a piece. Stretching before bed helps me not wake up feeling stiff in the morning.

Now it’s time to hop into bed! I like to turn down my bed in a very pretty way- I take off all of my decorative pillows and place them where they belong at night, fold back the covers evenly on both sides, and then lay down my pillows I sleep on. My bed looks like a hotel’s when I get in- it makes me smile!
Lastly, I like to read for a little bit. I’m normally pretty tired when I get to the end of my day which means I can only read a few pages at a time but that’s fine with me! It may take me months to read a book but it’s not like I have a deadline to finish it by. I’m currently reading Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell and I absolutely love it! When I am done reading I can simply reach over, turn off my bedside lamp and go to sleep. By turning on only my bedside lamp when I start my bedtime routine ensures that I do not have to get up and turn off any lights which would wake me up a little bit because of the movement.

I hope y’all find a good bedtime routine that works for you, sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed! How do y’all like to decompress from your day?
P.S.- You can also find this mug from Anthropologie here. The grey faux fur pillows, white faux fur blanket, lamp and picture frame are from Homegoods. I bought all of these things recently- maybe you can find them in a store near you! The quilt and shams are Target’s Simply Shabby Chic collection- a similar style can be found here.
Also, my kitty loves to help me get ready for bed and then steal my pillow every night when I am sleeping 🙂
